11 ways of bearing lubrication, how many do you know?

The lubrication of the bearing is to ensure the normal operation of the TIMKEN bearing, avoid direct contact between the raceway and the surface of the rolling element, reduce friction and wear inside the bearing, extend the service life of the bearing, enhance the performance of the bearing, and prevent foreign matter from invading the bearing. Internal causes rust and corrosion. This article introduces 11 common lubrication methods for bearings.

1. Manual lubrication: This is the most primitive method. When the lubricating oil of the bearing is insufficient, use an oiler to supply oil. However, this method is difficult to maintain a certain amount of oil. It is more dangerous to forget to refuel due to negligence. It is usually only used in light-load, low-speed or intermittent sports. When it is best to operate, install a dust cover or ball valve on the refueling hole. And use felt, cotton, wool, etc. as filtering device.

2. Dropping point lubrication: usually used for light-load and medium-load bearings with a peripheral speed of less than 4~5m/s. A roughly fixed amount of lubricating oil is supplied from the container through holes, needles, valves, etc., the most classic is the drip cup , The amount of dripping oil varies significantly with the viscosity of the lubricating oil, the bearing clearance and the position of the oil supply hole.

3. Oil ring lubrication: The lubricating oil from the oil sump is brought to the bearing by the ring that is hung on the shaft and can rotate (only used for the lubrication method of horizontal shaft), suitable for medium-speed and high-speed bearings with shaft diameter greater than 50mm , The oil ring is preferably seamless. When the bearing width-to-diameter ratio is less than 2, only one oil ring can be used, otherwise two oil rings are required.

4. Oil rope lubrication: Relying on the capillary and siphon action of the oil rope to guide the lubricating oil in the oil cup to the bearing, it is mainly used for light-load and medium-load bearings with a peripheral speed of less than 4~5m/s. In addition, the oil rope is in the whole Can play a filtering role in the process.

5. Oil pad lubrication: Use the capillary action of the oil pad to apply the lubricating oil in the oil pool to the surface of the shaft diameter. This method can keep the friction surface clean, but dust will also block the pores and cause insufficient oil supply. The oil supply of oil pad lubrication is usually only 1/20 of oil lubrication.

6. Oil bath lubrication: This kind of lubrication method is to immerse a part of the bearing in the lubricating oil, which is often used for the thrust bearing of the vertical shaft, and is not suitable for the radial bearing of the horizontal shaft.

7. Splash lubrication: The lubricating oil splashed by the flapping of the rotating parts in the oil tank is used to supply the bearing, which is suitable for higher speed bearings.

8. Spray lubrication: The lubrication method of spraying the lubricating oil on the friction surface after atomizing, suitable for high-speed bearings.

9. Pressure lubrication: oil is supplied to the bearing by the pressure of the lubrication pump, and the lubricating oil flowing out of the bearing is recovered to the oil pool for recycling. It is the most stable lubrication method with the most oil supply, suitable for high speed and heavy load. , An important sliding bearing.

10. Circulating oil lubrication: Use an oil pump to transport the filtered oil to the bearing components, and then filter and cool the lubricating oil after passing through the bearing for use. Circulating oil can take away a certain amount of heat and cool the bearing, so this method is suitable for bearing parts with higher speeds.

11. Jet lubrication: Use an oil pump to inject high-pressure oil into the bearing through a nozzle, and the oil injected into the bearing flows into the oil groove through the other end of the bearing. When the bearing rotates at a high speed, the rolling elements and the cage also make the surrounding air form an air flow at a relatively high rotation speed. It is difficult to send the lubricating oil to the bearing by the general lubrication method. At this time, the lubricating oil must be sprayed by the high-pressure injection method. In the bearing, the position of the nozzle should be placed between the inner ring and the center of the cage.

Bearing lubrication is a continuous task, and the lubricating oil replacement cycle is based on the bearing's service conditions and the difference in oil volume. Under normal circumstances, when the operating temperature is below 50°C and in a good environment with little dust, it should be replaced once a year. When the oil temperature reaches 100°C, it should be replaced once in 3 months or less.
