Tips for choosing bearing grease

The choice of  FAG bearing grease is directly related to the stable operation of the equipment. In order to make better use of the ideal condition of the bearing, the selection of bearing grease must be considered from the following aspects:

When mixing grease, never mix incompatible greases. If two incompatible greases are mixed, their consistency will usually become soft, and the bearing may be damaged due to the easy loss of grease. If you don't know which kind of grease the bearing originally used, you must thoroughly remove the old grease inside and outside the bearing before adding new grease.

An important factor in the selection of grease. If the wrong grease is selected, all measures to prevent bearings will be futile. It is important to choose a grease whose base oil viscosity can provide sufficient lubrication at the working temperature. The viscosity is mainly affected by temperature. , It drops as the temperature rises, and it rises when the temperature drops. Therefore, it is necessary to know the base oil viscosity at operating temperature. Machinery manufacturers usually specify the use of a certain grease, but most standard greases are suitable for a wide range.

Oil seals, oil seals are necessary barriers to protect bearings and lubricants from external pollution. During the operation of the bearing, no debris or moisture can penetrate into the bearing to prevent damage to it. Correct installation and maintenance is an important factor in the service life of bearings. Must pay attention to the cleanliness of the bearing, the correctness of bearing selection and the selection of appropriate installation and maintenance tools. Bearings must be protected from contaminants and moisture, and they must be installed and lubricated correctly. Therefore, the design of the bearing arrangement, the condition of the oil seal, the type of lubricant and the lubrication cycle, and even the special maintenance all play the same and important role.

Anti-rust performance, the grease used in the bearing must have an anti-rust effect, and the anti-rust agent must be insoluble in water. Grease should have good adhesion and can form an oil film on the surface of the steel. Mechanical stability, the grease will soften during mechanical processing, resulting in leakage. During normal operation, grease will be thrown into the bearing from the bearing seat. If the mechanical stability of the grease is not enough, the soap structure of the grease will be mechanically disintegrated during operation, causing the grease to be destroyed and thus losing its lubricating effect.

The classification of grease is mainly based on temperature and working conditions: grease can be classified according to their allowable working temperature. The consistency and lubricating ability of grease are affected by the working temperature. Bearings operating at a certain temperature must be selected at the same temperature Grease with the correct consistency and good lubricating effect. Grease is manufactured in different operating temperature ranges, and can be roughly divided into low-temperature, medium-temperature and high-temperature grease. There is a type of grease called extrusion resistant or extrusion resistant and added with molybdenum disulfide, in which additives are added to enhance the strength of the lubricating oil film.

The following are several important factors for choosing lubricating grease: mechanical type, bearing type and size, working temperature, working load, speed range, working conditions, such as vibration and whether the direction of the main shaft is horizontal or vertical, cooling conditions, sealing effect, and periphery surroundings.
